The 5 key ingredients to a happier self....
Disconnect
Make an effort to give yourself some space from technology. The past week or so I have been making an effort to not check my email as soon as I get up. I have been noticing lately my habit of instantly checking my email on my phone as soon as I get up-without even being out of bed, thus my head already starts to swirl and make check-lists for the day. I don't give myself a moment to breathe, check-in, and or be excited about the sunny morning I have just awoken to.
Sooo now I tell myself to shower first, sit down and enjoy breakfast, and then check my email! :)

Hydrate
Yes, hydrate, hydrate, hydrate! Your body has been in fasting mode all night so it is important to hydrate it once you wake up and get it ready for the day. A nice cup of warm lemon water in the morning will clear out toxins, rev up your metabolism, and detoxify your liver.
*add a few grains of sea salt to replace electrolytes and for extra hydration
Nourish
Breakfast is the most important meal of the day. It sets your foundation for what is to come. When you are well fed and energized you are more likely to have a better day and be less reactionary.
-protein is essential for long lasting energy and will keep hunger at bay for hours.
-some greens to alkalize your system and provide rich minerals.
or perhaps a nutrient packed smoothie with some fat (coconut oil/avocado), protein (spirulina/whey protein) and some sugar (fruit) for long last energy and nourishment. A balance between fat, protein, and sugar will curb hunger.
* if one has a light meal of just fruit, you are more likely to be hungrier faster. The sugar in fruit will raise your blood levels momentarily, but will soon drop, resulting in wanting to eat again sooner.

if you haven't been able to tell already....I love poached eggs! ;-) I call this my surf breakfast....steamed kale, poached eggs, avocado, and turmeric.
Move
Whatever it may be, get your body moving and your blood flowing! Even if this means taking the stairs at work instead of the elevator, any bit helps....

Nature
Take the time to relax and enjoy nature. Soak in the sun and breathe in the salty air ;-)

Some thoughts~
I am not always so stellar on all points, but I try to be. As long as you remember to slow down from time to time and pick up where you left off you are head of the game...
Love,
~M
