It is 9:00 a.m. and I sit on my front porch observing all the new flower blossoms....spring is officially here. John Cruz's "Island Style" plays in the background, making me think back to my trip to Hawaii 2+ years ago....my mom and I driving down Queen Kaahmanu Highway to my surf lesson while singing along to Hawaiian guitar music and pointing out all the colorful and exotic flowers along the way.
The memory of those beautiful flowers is what brought me to Home Depot's flower department a few days ago. I stood staring at all the passion flowers and hibiscus and instantly started making plans of gardening. I came home later that day and told my twin brother of my gardening plans and that it was time to "add some color" or at least I was going to have a "section" of the house with some pretty flowers...

In our backyard we have a gazebo type structure that opens out onto the garden. When I first saw it I envisioned twinkle lights, lanterns, pillows, and a place to have friends over to enjoy dinner during a warm night. Well, that dream was instantly squashed when my twin hauled all of his beer equipment inside and the delivery of a new fridge to store even more beer. The other day my little brother suggested building a "tiki bar" and of course all my brothers were in unison with the "great idea." I imagine it to look more like bunch of wood and nails slapped together. Yep, I have officially lost!
Sooo...my project is going to be the front porch :)
On the topic of colorful things...the past few mornings I have been making delicious chia seed pudding with tons of fruit. It has been such a treat in the morning and perfect start to spring...

On the topic of colorful things...the past few mornings I have been making delicious chia seed pudding with tons of fruit. It has been such a treat in the morning and perfect start to spring...
to make chia seed pudding:
Ingredients
In a mason jar put 3-4 tablespoons of chia seeds (more seeds if you want it to be a thicker consistency) with 1 cup of coconut milk and stir together. Every few min shake it until the seeds seem evenly dispersed in the jar. Let it sit for about 30 min to let the chia seeds absorb the milk.
Add some fruit and honey and your are set! This morning I added some granola cereal for an extra crutch.
Chia seed health benefits:
Some thoughts~
