A lot can be learned from the ocean....sometimes it can ebb and flow so gently you feel as if you are dancing with it, other times it can hold you down, wave after wave, pounding, until it is ready to set you free. There is always a lesson to be learned from this and the same can be said of our experiences during the years. As we come to yet another year I ponder not only the lessons I have learned, but also how I have reacted to them. I have tried to come from a place of trust and openness, and the times I tried to control and look too far into the future, were the times I felt most stressed and confused. Change is often the source of this discomfort, but we must learn to trust it and be conscious.
Consciousness is the ability to release the old and embrace the new. In order to do this, we must remain present and be able to "go with the flow," just as the ocean, no wave is the same, no day in life is the same....we must find beauty in the inevitable.
So as the year comes to an end and people begin to set their new year's resolutions, think not only of your goals and aspirations, but how you might go about them and see the grace that is in each situation if things don't go "according to plan." Perhaps spend a day in nature reflecting over the past year and what it is that you would like to change and grow upon. Nature always has a way of cleansing our minds and energy levels.
To do this I spent a day in Tomales Bay/Pt.Reyes...immersed in the fresh green hills, amidst the cows, talking over crab eggs benedict, and setting my desires for the year to come, but more importantly reaffirming my beliefs that things come according to the energy that you put out and your ability to surrender and just "be."

Herbal support
Lately I have become very interested not only in the power of food to heal, but also herbs. Here are a few herbs that can help support you while in pursuit of your glorious dreams this year :)
* adrenal fatigue: our two adrenal glands are the size of a walnut and are located on the top of our kidneys. They are very important as they manufacture and secrete steroid hormones, such as cortisol, estrogen, and testosterone. The objectives of the adrenal glands are to create a balance between hormones and deal with stress (internally and external factors such a work/money/family issues) in the body.
Cortisol is secreted when we are stressed, but if our body is constantly being called upon to support high levels of cortisol our adrenal glands will become fatigued and will have trouble balancing hormone levels.

Some Words ~
“We delight in the beauty of the butterfly, but rarely admit the changes it has gone through to achieve that beauty.”
― Maya Angelou
Acknowledge the bumps and falls, the tears and heartaches... see the beauty in them
know they were all purposeful....
to one day bring you into the light
shining brightly.....
even more powerful and radiant than before.
All my love,
-M
